paintingtips

These paintingtips are just basics, but with a
little practice you will be doing professional
looking paint jobs in no time.

Important

It is very important to wash your new body
with soap and water before getting started.

We are using a '53 Ford pickup for this little demo .
The body has been washed and dried and we
are ready for window coverings.

Align all the window masks in place and
press firmly to seal from paint.

Set all of your decals or stickers in place.
These should be placed from the underside so
they stay in the paint. Mask off any other part
of the truck you may want to paint a different color.
EG. the step sides and truck box.

-spray your first coats and let dry. Light coats,
allowing dry time between each. 2 to 3 times.

-Remove the decals you want to paint next.
paint and let dry. repeat for each stage of decals,
leaving the window masks for last.

-Leave your front window mask on and paint the
others black for a tint look.

*the decals were changed prior to painting as
you will see in the next frame.

-Trim the excess plastic from your body.

-Drill your holes for your mounts, engine and gas tank.

-Peel the protective film from your body and add
any exterior decals.

-Mount on truck and enjoy.

We put this '53 Ford body on Wallys HPI SAVAGE LIMITED EDITION.
Wally's put some other upgrades on his truck you can see on the
Savage page.
