rtr (ready-to-run) Break-in Procedures
Items not usually included in the purchase of your new rtr rc truck or car.
Fuel & fuel bottle. (10%-20%-30%)rc engine fuels. 20% is probably the most popular nitro fuel. There are many brand names of fuels to choose from,so try a few and decide which one is appropriate and to your liking,performance wise.
Batteries-(aa),(7.2),(c),(d) -(aa)8 for your controller,4 for your truck. -(7.2) for your-electric start & roto start. -(c&d)is for glow igniters.
Glow igniter(not necessary for certain vehicles with electric start)
Tools etc. -glow plug wrench -small flat head screwdriver -small plastic tie-straps -temp.gauge -air filter oil -after run oil
optional items -extra glow plugs -hump pack(replaces 4 aa batteries in rc) -extra air filters
getting started
rtr break-in procedures.
This is a very important procedure.
(1) Prepare your rc by putting batteries in controller and vehicle. (2) add fuel to tank. (3) turn on radio(always turn on first). (4) turn on vehicle. (5) test radio with vehicle. -wheels should steer,and you should see brake and throttle linkage move. (6) start your engines! -pump fuel to carb with primer. -attach glow igniter. -start motor. (7) allow vehicle to warm up a few minutes.
(8) applying 1/4 throttle maximum,run truck in 2 second-brake intervals, (1 thousand 1, 1 thousand 2, brake)for the first tank of fuel.
(9) allow vehicle to cool and add 2nd tank of fuel.
(10) applying 1/2 throttle max, run in 3 second-brake intervals until tank is empty.allow to cool and add 3th tank of fuel. (11) applying upto 3/4 throttle,run in 3 second-brake intervals until tank is empty.add 4th tank of fuel.no need to let cool.
(12) applying throttle gradually to full,run in 5 second-brake intervals until tank is empty .add fuel.no need to let cool.
(13) tank #5 finally.you thought it would never come,but patience is what you need with these nitro toys.Full Throttle !!!,you are now rtr
***Some manufactures require the engine to idle during break-in procedures***
